The Need To Awaken

We live in a world that is obsessed with becoming better. We look to everything we can for the information on how to do this. We go to church, to temples, we read books, search the internet . . . you name it, we do it. And it is all so we can achieve something seemingly outside of ourselves. But is it really? Is what we want so illusive that we must grasp at everything just to find the one thing we all want, happiness?

This isn’t a new problem. All you have to do is look at the religions over the centuries to see that this need has plagued humanity for lifetimes. So, why haven’t we found the answers yet? Many people have claimed that they have them, Christians, Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims, and more recently even scientists and Atheists are claiming to map out where our happiness is in our minds and how we can alter it to make it stay.

But we aren’t happier. The world isn’t a better place.

My solution?

Well, to be honest, I don’t have one. But, I believe that I have come to increasingly understand the steps to finding the answer or answers, which is, to come together.

With modern technology this should be easier. We are connected at all times with the world around us by a tiny device in our pockets or our computers at our desks. We see tragedies in minutes of them happening, we see the starving people of the world, we see everything. However, we still bar ourselves away from each other. On the level of our minds, the most fundamental level, we separate ourselves from one another. We see, my food, my country, my car, my oil, my god, my my my my.

. . . It is the grandest of delusions for nothing can arise without another. We are as dependent on one another as lungs are dependent on air. We are intimately connected on levels we casually look over to fuel ignorance we believe of our own lives.

There has never been a greater need than now to awaken, to see the world for what it is, a massive connection of all things material and non-material. We must come together mentally, consciously, spiritually, to discover that we were never separated in the first place and live in that state of unity with all living beings.

Who’s with me?
